Being inactive is hazardous to your health, physically inactive people are almost twice as likely to develop coronary heart disease --- the leading cause of death and disability. According to Aine Mecarthy fitness instructor, broadcaster and writer, physical activitiy does not have to be intense or vigorous to bring you health benefits. To loose weight and keep fit successfully you need to know how your body works and to follow a programme tailored to its capabilities.
People who exercise regularly reduce their chances of developing a number of serious diseases ---high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, obesity, osteoporosis and so on.
Some studies indicate that they are less susceptible to minor illnesses like colds and 'flu, too.
Exercise has psychological benefits, too. Alleviation of stress symptoms, improved self esteem, better body image and a sense of satisfaction are examples.
Exercise also has positive social implications. How, that it's a socially acceptable activity, regular exercisers win the approval, even the admiration, of friends and colleagues. And, unless their chosen activity is solitary, they meet other people, people who are also active and positive, thereby improving their social life.
Be healthy and be happy.
